New Balance triples storage capacity at DSV in Venlo
Logistics service provider DSV and sports brand New Balance are significantly expanding their collaboration, which dates back to 2005. For this fast-growing loyal customer, the number 1 in the Top 100 Logistics Service Providers has taken into use an automated warehouse in Venlo of 60,000 square meters.
Knapp supplied the systems
The new warehouse layout, which Knapp realized, was designed to guarantee both a high capacity and a shuttle system for storage and distribution. This enables DSV to better manage the millions of additional products for the American sports brand, so that they can be delivered efficiently from the warehouse in all parts of Europe.
Goods-to-person approach
According to Peter van der Maas, Executive Vice President at DSV, the new setup uses proven storage and innovative warehouse automation to meet the specific requirements and needs of New Balance and its customers. “By incorporating the new automated processes and goods-to-person approach, we increase efficiency. This ensures that our employees can focus on the most complex tasks in the warehouse. Warehouse automation, in turn, ensures that simple and repetitive tasks are performed.”
Modernization multi-client campus
The collaboration between DSV and New Balance dates back to 2005. This collaboration was recently extended and consolidated with the modernization of the multi-client campus of the logistics service provider at Trade Port Noord in Venlo. “The new tailor-made warehouse for New Balance in the EMEA region should ensure higher customer satisfaction and enable both parties to further grow the collaboration in the future,” says Van der Maas.
